Great Lakes Preservation Organizations

Organizations that we support in their efforts to help preserve recreational sport fishing on the great lakes.

20% of all profits are donated to organizations who are directly involved in helping to protect our great resource.

The Great Lakes — Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario, along with their connecting channels — form the largest surface fresh water system on earth. Michigan sits at the heart of that system, surrounded by four of the five Great Lakes. The Great Lakes are not just a “local issue.” They house about one-fifth of the world’s fresh surface water and nine-tenths of the U.S.’s fresh surface water. Michigan alone boasts more than 3,200 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, 11,000 inland lakes and 36,000 miles of rivers.

Environmental stewardship, sustainable economic development, and responsible use of the Great Lakes are crucial components of keeping the lakes and the region vibrant. Through research, education, and outreach, Michigan Sea Grant is dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of the Great Lakes and coastal resources.

Michigan United Conservation Clubs is the largest statewide conservation organization in the nation. Founded in 1937, our mission is to unite citizens to conserve, protect and enhance Michigan's natural resources and outdoor heritage. This mission drives everything we do as an organization.

Our strength is in our membership and support: over 40,000 hunters, anglers, trappers and conservationists and over 200 affiliated local clubs around the state. We were founded in 1937 with a simple purpose: harness the combined strength of Michigan's outdoors community to protect conservation from politics. Since then, we have been the foremost power in Michigan protecting the rights to hunt, fish and trap. Our policies are determined by our members through Michigan's most robust grassroots policy-setting process. Our experienced and professional staff carry out the resolutions adopted by our members through a suite of conservation programs ranging from direct advocacy and communications to on-the-ground wildlife habitat conservation and youth outdoor education.

A fisherman driven community to promote and maintain the world class Great Lakes Salmon sport fishery. The Great Lakes Salmon Initiative is a non-profit organization whose objective is to support and promote the world class salmon fishery on the Great Lakes. The GLSI raises funds to protect the Chinook salmon program and world class sport fishery throughout the Great Lakes. We want a balanced fishery with all salmon and trout species with kings being the dominate predator because they are most sought after by anglers and drive a huge economic benefit for great lakes port communities and businesses. We are opposed to a native only agenda that focuses on making Lake Trout the dominate predator in the Great Lakes.
